Fit Chill Out Retreat

Saturday, June 1, 2019

Hello, guys! I'm refreshed and excited, from my much needed short escape to Phuket with Fit Chill Out Retreat in Nai Yang, Phuket.

I first found out about Fit Chill Out Retreats through my dear friend at lululemon, Amanda Chee. She had worked with founder and life coach, Beata Justkowiak, on previous community events and thought it was an excellent getaway for the long weekend.

Before this, my first ever retreat was in Ko Samui and it was a full yoga immersion program, so I wasn't sure what to expect. The few days in Phuket with Fit Chill Out retreats has been filled with a good mix of fitness and life coaching sessions. Connecting body and mind really helps you experience a holistic approach to relaxation and self-discovery.

Life Coaching
To be honest, I always thought life coaching was the same thing as therapy. Life coaching can range from an array of meanings - mentoring, sharing advice. counselling. To me, I find life coaching really interesting, especially since living in Singapore is so stressful. It helped me to understand more about myself/my personality, why I think the way I think, and even personal and career direction in life.

This 4D3N retreat was themed Positively ME and we learnt all about finding our self-confidence. The days were structured, beginning with a Yoga session on the beach, followed by a coaching session, and finally with another restorative yoga session.

I love small groups
Being an introvert, I naturally took longer to warm up to the group. What I found really helpful was how intimate and small the group was. We were all women so it made it easier to connect, enjoy the process of working out together and sharing our thoughts during coaching sessions.

Morning sunset and sunrise
We would set our alarms to 6.30am every morning just to clock in a session of yoga during sunrise with Dorota! We'd end our 2nd restorative yoga session just in time for sunset. We'd then head to one of the seaside restaurants for dinner to end the day off perfectly while watching the sky change into crimson red.

Coaching Sessions
The best days come with a coaching session with Beata. Beata's a psychologist and life coach who led our group into daily sessions about positivity and self-confidence. It's so nice to learn more about the art of making confident choices and a refresher on psychology 101 like Maslow's Hierarchy.

I'm actually thinking of maybe checking back in for one of her other retreats because this was really helpful.

Mindful practice
We took some time to clean the beach we were doing yoga as a way to practice mindfulness. We saw other tourists and people on the beach joining us, which kinda softened my heart a little.

Now that I'm back in Singapore writing this post, I really miss these days that I was working on bettering myself. For me, it's always the case that I never know what I should be working on until I start to give myself time to reflect and explore.

I found this upcoming retreat on Fit Chill Out that's coming up in September for Siem Reap, Cambodia.
